Find Your Perfect Pair: A Guide to Matching Couple Rings

Find Your Perfect Pair: A Guide to Matching Couple Rings

Hi, I’m Ghazal - designer, jeweller, and the woman behind every Soremi ring. Over the years I’ve made thousands of personalised pieces from my Yorkshire studio, but there’s something truly special about making rings for two people who want to celebrate their love and connection.

Matching couple rings aren’t just for weddings anymore. Whether it’s a pair of promise rings, anniversary bands, or commitment rings for couples who don’t plan on getting married, more and more people are choosing to mark their relationship with something meaningful, beautiful and, most importantly, theirs.

What Is a Couple's Ring?

Couples rings are two matching rings worn by partners to symbolise their connection. Sometimes that means wedding bands, but it can also mean promise rings, anniversary rings, or just a shared design that says: we’re in this together. Couples rings don’t have to follow any rules. You can wear them on any finger, stack them with other favourites, and personalise them however you like.

At Soremi, all of our matching ring sets can be personalised with initials, dates, words, or lyrics that mean something to you. I hand stamp every letter myself, using steel punches and a hammer - no machines, no engraving templates, just me making sure your piece feels like yours. That means every slight mark or irregularity is part of the magic, not a flaw - although with over 20 years experience, they do tend to come out looking pretty perfect if I do say so myself.

Why Do Couples Exchange Rings?

Honestly? Because it feels right. Rings are wearable symbols of connection. Whether you’re getting married, marking an anniversary, or simply want to show your commitment, exchanging rings is a way to make it tangible. I’ve made rings for couples who’ve just bought their first home, had a baby, or made it through a really hard time together. It doesn’t have to be marriage - it just has to matter to you.

Can You Get a Couple's Ring if You're Not Getting Married?

Absolutely. In fact, more and more people are choosing to mark their relationship without tying it to a legal ceremony. Commitment rings, matching bands, or personalised rings just for the two of you - it all counts. The meaning is yours to define.

Should Couples Rings Match?

They can - but they don’t have to. I offer a few different options for those who want something matchy-matchy but I always offer two different ring widths on these ones to accommodate different preferences:

Hammered Silver Personalised Rings
One wider, one slimmer - both with a beautiful textured finish and your message inside.

Satin Silver Ring Pair
Simple, sleek, and quietly cool. With a hidden personalisation on the inside.

Bark Textured Silver Matching Rings
Something a little different. A rugged bark effect and subtle text for those who want to keep their words private.

9ct Gold Matching Rings
For something extra special, these matching gold rings are understated, elegant and timeless.

SHOP ALL MATCHING COUPLES RINGS

And of course, if you want something completely bespoke, we can talk about that too, just head to my Bespoke Jewellery & Remodelling Service or if you're in the Yorkshire, UK area - I even host a Ring Making Workshop for couples wanting their rings extra personal. Every piece is handmade to order, so if you want one silver, one gold, or totally different styles with matching personalisation - I’ve got you.

What Can I Have Personalised Inside?

Here’s what people usually choose:

First names or initials
Wedding or anniversary dates
Song lyrics
Secret phrases or jokes only you understand

Each ring has a character limit based on size (usually around 12–18 characters) and I use uppercase lettering with full stops and ampersands. Dates can be included, using full stops instead of slashes. It’s simple, honest and hand stamped with care.

What Finger Do Couples Wear Their Rings On?

Traditionally, wedding rings go on the fourth finger of the left hand as a vein runs directly from your heart to this finger. But this is your ring, your way. Some wear it on their middle finger, others stack it with an engagement ring, and I’ve even made pinky promise rings (yes, really!). The best part of Soremi jewellery is that there are no hard and fast rules and I can personalise everything to you.

Same Sex & LGBTQ+ Wedding and Commitment Rings

Every one of our rings is gender-neutral and made for whoever wants to wear them. I’ve made rings for every type of couple, and I love being able to create pieces that reflect your story, not a generic template. If you simply want a meaningful design that feels right for you and your partner, these are made with love - for everyone.
