Make Your Own Wedding Rings in Leeds: A Day You’ll Never Forget

Make Your Own Wedding Rings in Leeds: A Day You’ll Never Forget

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over twenty years of making jewellery, it’s that the pieces we love most are the ones that hold a story. That’s what makes my Wedding Ring Making Workshop in Leeds so special - it’s not just about the rings you leave with, but the day you spend together creating them.

This Make Your Own Wedding Rings Workshop is specifically designed for couples who want to do something a little different. A day spent at the bench, learning how to shape, solder, and polish the rings you’ll wear for a lifetime. It’s not just about the finished pieces, but the process of making them - the care, the little details, and your story so far and the chapter that's about to begin.

What You'll Do On The Day

The workshop takes place in my light-filled studio in Horsforth, Leeds - a calm, creative space where you’ll learn traditional goldsmithing techniques in a relaxed and friendly way.

No previous experience is needed. I’ll meticulously guide you through each stage step by step: from measuring and cutting to soldering, filing, and forming your rings. You’ll be using real jeweller’s tools, learning skills that have been used by jewellers for centuries.

We begin the day with a chat over tea or coffee to confirm your designs and materials. Once you’re settled in, we move to the bench and start bringing your ideas to life. By midday, your bands will have started to take shape, and after a short break for a light lunch that's provided by me, you’ll move on to refining and polishing them.

By the end of the day, you’ll have made your wedding rings completely by hand, we can then send them to be hallmarked if they are silver, 9ct gold or 18ct gold or you can have them cast into platinum.

Designing Your Rings

Before your workshop, we’ll discuss your design ideas and finalise your materials so everything is ready when you arrive.

Most couples choose from classic profiles such as:

 D-Shape Court/Oval Flat

You can make your rings in sterling silver, or upgrade to gold (9ct, 14ct or 18ct) in yellow, white, or rose gold. Platinum bands are also available for those wanting something extra durable.

Once your design and materials are confirmed, I’ll order your metal ahead of the day so you’re ready to start as soon as you arrive.

Please note: The workshop price covers silver rings. Gold or platinum upgrades are available at an additional cost depending on the metal, carat, and ring size - we’ll confirm everything before booking.

Finishing Touches

Your rings should feel as individual as the two of you. During the workshop, you’ll be able to choose the finish and style that best reflects you:

• High polish – bright and classic
Matt or satin – soft and subtle
Hammered or bark texture – naturally tactile and organic

If you’d like to make your rings even more personal, we can arrange engraving, hallmarking, or the addition of gemstones or diamonds.

Hallmarking costs approximately £50 for two rings of the same carat and colour gold, and all other additions can be discussed ahead of your day in the studio.

Pricing and Booking

As the cost of precious metals varies daily, pricing depends on your ring size, width, and metal choice.

As a guide, these are the additional prices for metals other than silver:

Ladies’ gold bands typically start around £400
Men’s gold bands range from £500–£600
18ct gold is roughly double these prices

Your workshop fee includes all tuition, use of tools, and enough silver to make your rings. Once you’ve chosen your design, I’ll send over a full quote and invoice in advance so everything is ordered ready for your day.

Why Couples Choose A Make Your Own Wedding Ring Workshop

Many couples come to this workshop looking for a way to make their wedding experience more personal - and they leave with something completely unique to them.

You’ll learn real techniques, work side by side, and create rings that are as unique as your relationship. There’s something very grounding about working with your hands, shaping a piece of metal into something meaningful.

It’s an experience that stays with you long after the day itself and each time you look at your rings, you’ll remember exactly how they came to be.

Every ring can be customised with hidden messages, names, or dates, making them as personal and meaningful as the stories they represent. I can also remodel your old jewellery to create a bespoke wedding ring, or simply create one from scratch.
